This tradition started out in Dayton 13 years ago, before I even knew Mike. At the time, its purpose was to unite Mike's OU friends with his Dayton friends. Yesterday was the 4th (now annual again) Foley Fest in Cleveland. There was a hiatus for a couple of years until last year, when we decided to revive it. Everyone's schedules get quite busy and sometimes its hard to get together as a group with great friends who live all over. But its so worth it when we can all set aside a day to get together and hang out-- even if its once a year. That's what Foley Fest is all about. And yesterday's event was a complete success. Even Boomer got in the spirit by wearing an OU bandana. From bocce ball to wiffleball, cornhole to caps....it was just a great time had by all. It started at about 2:30 and lasted late into the evening (ahem, morning). It was so nice to catch up with everyone and just hang out in lawn chairs while playing games, eating, and reliving funny stories from the past.
We didn't overdo it-- I promise that. And today, we spent most of the day relaxing at the pool and then back here on the couch....off my feet. I'm so glad we decided to do the party-- and we'll do it again next year. It'll be Little B's first Foley Fest (we won't let him/her stay up for the Zeppelin concert thought) and perhaps more kids will join in the fun. We'll see where the next Foley Fest takes us--- its sure to be fun every year.
We didn't get a photo with everyone in it, so we'll have to make sure we get that done next year, but here's a good group pic:
